Best Weekend Ever

Soccer games, the 4th Spring Festival, a getaway to St. Michael's - it doesn't get any better.

May 4, 2013 - The Spring Festival was finally here!  It truly is one of our boys' favorite days of the year.

Cotton Candy was one of our first stops.

The upper room was packed - enjoying hot dogs, raffle prize announcements.  At least 60% of the crowd were people who don't attend our church regularly.  Such a fun, FREE event for our community.

So many other highlights - an amazing obstacle course, antique cars, a mechanical bull, a moon bounce.  And after it was over we raced home for baths, packed up the car, and snuck off to....

beautiful St. Michaels, MD.

Our incredibly generous friend (Bob Lewis) offered his waterfront home as a place to getaway.  After several insanely busy weeks, this was just what our family needed.

There were so many sweet gifts sprinkled into this time -  beginning with a text from Bob saying that the fridge was stocked with milk, lunch meat, bread, eggs.  He even had diapers there!  I thought we'd be making a late evening store run, but everything (and more) was there.

The 60 degree weather felt cool after the run we'd been having in the 70's.  

Bob stuck around long enough on Sunday to take us for a late morning boat ride.  Absolute heaven for this Seattle girl.

Thes best part of the boat for these guys?  The bathroom.

We had a perfectly lazy afternoon, playing soccer, reading.  My favorite moment was sitting out on the deck with Andrew and Caden (Will was napping), each of us reading a different book.  Caden was looking at a book of US maps :)

After pizza dinner, we found the ice cream shop.

Being by water does so much for my soul.  I got to sneak away for a morning run by the water, and through town - ending at our favorite little coffee shop.  

This was true rest for the weary.  We are so grateful for this sweet provision, especially as we had busy weeks awaiting our return.
