Amazing

Well, it's BACK, and seemingly for good this time! I fully believe that there is no limit to what God can do, but I have to be honest, after being stolen a second time I really thought this car was gone for good. So you can imagine our shock and delight we we received a call, in the wee hours (2AM) of Friday, July 1st, from DC police informing us that they had recovered our car, and had three men in custody!
I didn't learn how it all transpired until speaking with a Montgomery County police investigator several days later (who went to the scene that night). Apparently DC police were doing a "watch" program that night, where they patrol the streets in unmarked cars and run plates. They spotted our van, ran the plates and it came up stolen (although the plates had been swapped). When they pulled the car over, 3 men attempted to flee, but all were caught and arrested. So amazing.
Later that afternoon, Grandpa Jerry was kind enough to drive me down to the impound lot in SE DC, where we found it (along with the valet key) in amazing condition. It was covered in fingerprint dust, had no gas, had been stripped of ALL of our possessions (carseats, strollers, books, CD's, a kids digital camera), but everything inside was intact. There were a few minor dents and scratches, and a crack in the windshield, but nothing that can't be fixed easily (or so we hope). One sweet testament to God's provision - my phone was completely dead, and as I was driving away I looked down and saw the ONE thing left it our car was my phone charger ;).

Our boys were VERY excited to get it back. "Is this one really ours?" And the next morning (and several consecutive days), looking out the window to make sure it was still there.

Channel 9 news wanted us to notify them when the car was found - so they immediately came and did a follow up story. It aired that night at 11, and again the following night at 11.

My famous line of the night: "ahhhh... well, apparently you shouldn't leave your valet key in the car."

AND it was our 11th wedding anniversary - happy day, love.

Every free moment since (2 weeks ago) has been consumed with the never ending bureaucracy of dealing with insurance, the police, an investigation with insurance, getting the car serviced (so far only the work covered by our warranty has been completed - 2 broken driver shafts on our front axles), figuring out rental cars/borrowing cars, and finding new carseats and strollers.

A LOT of work and time, but were are still so awed by God's AMAZING faithfulness to us in the midst of it all.
